I received a very early morning present on Christmas day when the latest WPJA Contest results were announced. I came in 9th place in the ‘Ceremony’ section with this image from Caroline & Mike’s wedding at Harburn House earlier this year:-
The WPJA judges comments were, ” A hilarious rainout moment complete with kilts”. It’s a nice touch, in my first WPJA competition, to have my work recognised out of the thousands of images that are entered from all across the world.
Located on the west side of Loch Lomond, Luss was the perfect location for a winter wedding and understandably, Claire and Tom were keen to make sure that we got one or two shots down at the Loch side before we headed south to Cameron House Hotel for the wedding reception.
After returning from their honeymoon in mid December I received a lovely email from Claire and Tom:
” Hi Iain, we received the DVD – thank you so much for dealing with that so quickly. We are really happy with the images – they are fab and some that we just absolutely love. The images down by the loch turned out really well, which is crazy as I thought it was really over-cast and the church shots are brilliant too……”
You couldn’t have met a more laid back couple than Michelle and Mark…. and that’s what made their wedding so damn exciting. There was no contingency plan, no back up wet weather option, they were having their wedding ceremony in the woods at Inver come rain or shine…… and if you’re a guest, you’d better come prepared! As it turned out – a truly fantastic day. Yes, there was rain, but after all, we are talking about Perthshire in late October here, so what do you expect? What a buzz… I’ve never raced around so much on the job before, trying to cover as many angles as was physically possible. I’m pretty sure I was wired for hours when I got home that night…..
